While I found the 4 pack to be a great value per mg. A few details that are trivial, but may matter to some. I also understand that "value" changes as the price may change.Glass bottles. I prefer plastic ones. For shipping they were wrapped way too well with strong tape over tight bubble wrap. The bubble wrap is a must with glass, but the tape was so good and so tight and complete that even using a sharp knife it was a pain to unwrap.500mg capsules are pretty much the same size as 1000mg tablets. BUT, way easier to swallow as they are smooth, well rounded, and have no taste. I can't stand huge pills. And I just finished off my 1000mg tablets of L-Lysine. They were a pain to swallow as they have sharp hard edges and taste awful! So I much rather swallow 4 large tasteless smooth pills for my 2000mg doses.Maybe one day I can find 500mg coated tablets so I can get a much smaller pill, but still without taste or hard edges.

I couldn't swallow other lysine pills because they were too big, round and non-coated. These are capsules and much easier to swallow.

I usually pay about 100% (or more) more for these. Granted I don't have to buy a 400 at once, but, hey, they'll be used eventually.I purchase these for our cat. The capsules can be opened and sprinkled on her food. All (most) cats carry a feline type of herpes (according to her breeder - yuck, I know, but it's not contagious to humans) and this helps keep furrballs a-symptomatic. If your cats eyes ever water or seal shut, that's a symptom. Ask your vet.
